Emirates hires four banks for potential bond
Emirates airline has zeroed in on four banks — Deutsche Bank, Emirates NBD, HSBC and Morgan Stanley – for a potential dollar-dominated bond issue, the Dubai-based carrier said yesterday.

Emirates Increases Manchester-Dubai Flights
Emirates has added another direct flight to Dubai from Manchester Airport, which started on 1 May. The company’s announcement of the extra flights means an increase of 25 per cent in the airline’s capacity from Manchester Airport. The new service will be serviced by an Airbus A330-200 aircraft offering passengers three class options.
Emirates launches Airbus A380 to Shanghai
Shanghai, the most populous city in China, is set to join Emirates’ expanding list of Airbus A380 destinations, when the superjumbo begins its non-stop service from Dubai on April 27. Shanghai will be Emirates’ third destination in Greater China to welcome the Airbus A380, following the launch of the aircraft to Beijing on August 1, 2010 and Hong Kong on October 1, 2010.
International airport in Dubai open to passengers
Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai is now open to passenger traffic and could increase options for those taking flights to Dubai. Potentially the world’s largest airport was initially opened to cargo traffic last year but is now accepting helicopter and passenger aircraft with less than 60 passengers, according to operator Dubai Airports.
Emirates sees robust air cargo demand for Africa
Emirates Airlines is banking on the economic vibrancy of its African destinations to boost its cargo business. Emirates operates a freighter four times a week into Nairobi as well as serving 15 other countries with flights to Lilongwe, Entebbe, Lagos and Dakar.
UAE signs open skies agreement with Albania
The UAE has signed an open skies deal with Albania, making the south-east European country the latest in a growing list of destinations accessible from the Gulf state. The agreement marks the latest effort by UAE airlines to expand their operations in the lucrative European market.

Abu Dhabi is investing an additional €32-€40-billion in its airport; Qatar is investing €8.7-billion in the airport in Doha; and Dubai, assuming it can get the financing, has planned an investment of up to €26-billion in the Dubai World Central Airport.
